This whole apartment hunting thing is not my forte. I've always been Mommy and Daddy's little princess. They fix my problems, they find me solutions. My father also happens to be able to talk his way out of a deal with the devil. I have not acquired this ability. People tell me something is a good deal, and I believe them, even if I am skeptical. How am I supposed to know?
Anyway.
I still live in the dorms. I've lived there for three years and it is time to gtfo. I love the dorms. For the past two years, I have lived in Celani, the newest dorms. They are awesome. Like mini-apartments. We get our own bedrooms and everything. Problem? We pay up the a** for it. Thus, the time to find an apartment has arrived!
So, we took on this project, determined to get real pictures and real reviews from people who lived in these places. We wanted the good, the bad and the ugly.
Most people complain about something or other in their apartments. The air conditioners suck, the management sucks, they drain every cent of your security deposit, the drivers try to kill you, you know, the usual.
But this was a pretty cool way to find out the good things about all of the typical places.
Unfortunately, we didn't have very long to do the project. I wish we would have had more time and more people participating in our surveys.
I must say, nothing struck me as a "OH GOSH, I WANT TO LIVE THERE!" place. I suppose that's the price you have to pay in a college town. Nothing cheap is any good. And apparently, nothing expensive is either.

University Meadows had my roommates and I at hello. When we walked into the club house for the first time a puppy greeted us, along with a friendly face anxious to give us a tour. We were so please with their model that we immediately signed the lease with out looking any where else....

That decision as  we would come to find was a poor one on our part. It isn't that the amenities are bad, actually they are the only thing keeping me there. Its the small bedrooms, sloppy maintenance,  fowl smelling dishwasher, and poor customer service of the staff that makes me wish we would have reconsidered this semester. The truth is we are all college students with a thousand things going on, the last thing I want is a phone call waking me up at 9 a.m. on a Saturday, key word SATURDAY morning asking if I am planning to re-sign, or asking if my roommate for next year is planning on signing a lease soon, or bugging me at least four times a week to get something signed. I am a responsible individual that will cooperate with what they ask, they don't have to constantly bug me like my mother.

They also claim that they are so pet friendly but leave out the fact that you have to put hundreds of dollars down for a  deposit to have an animal, and the owners around the complex are disrespectful and do not clean up dog poop, its disgusting to get a nice waft of dog pop aroma while you hanging out by the pool.

They have free printing as well.... oh but you have to supply your own paper!

And you can party... but say you have a blow out welcome weekend, and forget to bring your beer pong table in from the breeze way "hypothetically speaking," they will charge you a fine of $300 per table!

My last vent of frustration is upon my move out date I received a 13 page packet titled "how not to get a fee upon moving out" is this place so desperate for money that they  have to fine their residents for every little thing? With rent at over $400 a month you wouldn't think so.

Where does all of this extra money go?
I'll have to call in the CSI lab to find out that one, until then i'll be careful to avoid all the fines that I can, then blog my frustration at how much my total fines accumulate to when I move out Saturday.

I am a sophomore who resides in Copperbeech Townhomes. Although the space here temps students to sign a lease, I would not recommend living here. The management here is awful. You pay a 200 dollars cleaning fee, and a 165 dollar security deposit. Come to find out my apartment paid 800 dollars(4 person apartment) for cleaning and at the end of the year the tenants do most all of the apartment cleaning. The management does not refund your security deposit because they said they use it all for smoke alarms. A 165 dollars a person only goes towards smoke alarms? Give me a break! Management entered my friends apartment installed all new smoke detectors with out them knowing and billed them 60 dollars a person. You have to pay for parking, and if your friends park here after 10pm they get towed, and it cost a 100 dollars. Copperbeech and the towing company tell you they have no affiliation, but Copperbeech actually gets half of the fee(thats what I heard from a lot of different people). Although the 1600 sq. ft. of space is ok...... It is not worth the pain and hassle of their rude behavior, hidden fees, and lying.
